Detailed information
Malabrigo Mohair is a hand dyed wool, made of mohair and silk, which makes it soft to the touch and comfortable to wear. The combination of these two fibers provides a unique softness and shine, together with an excellent thermal insulation and wear resistance, making it an excellent choice for the manufacture of resistant winter garments.
Each skein of Malabrigo Mohair is unique and has its own personality, due to the subtle and unpredictable variations of the hand dyeing process. This technique allows you to create vibrant and deep colors that cannot be achieved with industrial dyeing. In addition, hand dyeing is an artisanal process that requires skill and patience, which adds special value to each skein.
It is a fine wool perfect for weaving lace, shawls, scarves and light garments. It can be worked with two strands at the same time to create thicker work, and can be combined with other strands for even more interesting results.
What is the composition of Malabrigo Mohair?
- 72% Mohair
- 28% Silk
What are the characteristics of Malabrigo Mohair?
- Each skein contains 25 grams and 210 meters.
- Recommended to work with 3.25 to 5 mm needles or with 2 to 3.5 mm crochet.
- It is recommended to wash by hand with cold water.
- Dry flat without stretching.
Each batch of Malabrigo Mohair wool is hand dyed with the same formula, but is assigned a different dye lot number. Due to the hand dyeing process, there may be differences in color tone from one batch of dye to another. For this reason, the colors shown in the photos are illustrated as a reference and may differ in more or less one tone.
This means that each skein is unique and can vary slightly in color, which adds a distinctive character to every garment that is made with it. Keep this in mind when choosing the number of skeins needed to weave your work.
